St. Chad's Journey

The History Behind the Stained Glass

In 2022, the Parish of St. Chad and St. Andrew decided to join forces. Although St. Chad was moving to St. Andrew the "new" parish was to be known only as St. Andrew, Woodhaven. To commemorate the name of St. Chad a stained glass window installation was approved.

Many people may not be aware that St. Chad actually originated from St. Andrew. Approximately twenty people thought that St. Andrew was getting too crowded and a new church further west was in order. In 1963 the Parish of St. Chad came into being.

Over the sixty years of St. Chad's existence, they moved several times. Originally they were located at Lincoln School, then moved to the Assiniboia Christian Centre, where they remained for forty five years. Circumstances took them to Kirkfield Park United Church and then Messiah Lutheran Church, and now back to St. Andrew.

The window depicts the full circle of St. Chad's journey and the return to it's place of origin.
